I completed my undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at the University of York, graduating in 2011. After a year working in data management for the NHS, I started an MSc in Biotechnology at the University of Leeds. During this time I carried out a research project in which I characterised molecular probes against a form of CaMKII oxidised at two methionine residues, which is implicated in heart disease. I utilised Western blot and SPR assays in order to study the specificity and characterise the binding of DNA aptamers and polyclonal antibodies to ox-CaMKII.

I joined CPR as a PhD student in October 2013, where I will be developing the technology for the design and generation of DOSCATS. These are multiplexed standards for protein quantification based on QconCAT technology, which are capable of acting as a standard in mass spectrometry and western blotting. This work is funded by the BBSRC and Badrilla.
